The Prime Minister noted that the long-term program of renewal of Ukrzaliznytsia's rolling stock is designed for 3-5 years. Its purpose is to modernize the rolling stock, as well as to provide orders to Ukrainian machine-building enterprises.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal during a visit to the production facilities of PJSC "Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works", which took place on Tuesday, July 28, as part of a working trip to Poltava region. Apart from the Prime Minister, there were present Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Uruskyy, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Ihor Petrashko, Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii, Head of Poltava Regional State Administration Oleh Syniegubov.
Denys Shmyhal stressed that the state, for its part, will exert every effort to support the national manufacturer and increase demand for engineering products. The Government has a number of developments that will allow raising the demand for freight cars in Ukraine this year.
"On Monday, the Government adopted the financial plan of Ukrzaliznytsia, in which capital investments in rolling stock renewal are identified as a key objective. The total amount of such investment will be more than UAH 12 billion. The sum worth UAH 1 billion will be directed for the procurement from the Kryukiv Works," noted Denys Shmyhal.
In addition, according to the Prime Minister, the first funds were received today in accordance with the approved plan for 18 passenger cars manufactured at the Kryukiv Railway Car Building Works. The Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture, on the commission of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has begun to develop a mechanism for purchasing another 70 cars.
"The President said there would be 90 cars this year. 20 have already been produced. As of today, 18 cars are being paid for, they have already been shipped. 2 more cars are ready, there are agreements with Ukrzaliznytsia. Relevant meetings on payment will be held," the Head of Government said.
Moreover, Denys Shmyhal talked to the staff of the Kryukiv Works. He noted that from now on Deputy Prime Minister Oleh Uruskyy would comprehensively address the issues of industry.
"He will be responsible for ensuring that companies, the leaders of industries such as your plant, develop, people feel confident in the future, receive a decent salary and be proud of their work. These are our main goals and we will do everything to achieve them," the Prime Minister summed up.
