Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met in Kyiv with Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power.
“We appreciate the prompt and significant support of the United States through the Agency’s mechanisms. We are grateful for the provision of a new USD 500 million humanitarian aid package and USD 250 million to support Ukrainian agriculture,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Ukrainian Government stressed that russia was once again threatening world food security. He spoke about ways to continue the Grain Initiative and steps to build border infrastructure.
The parties discussed the restoration of the energy system. Denys Shmyhal stressed that the Agency’s assistance in this area was very important for Ukraine.
The Prime Minister noted that the Government of Ukraine was also focused on supporting small and medium-sized businesses through loan and grant programmes and implementing reforms. He thanked USAID for its consistent assistance in these areas.
The meeting was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko, Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin, and Minister of Justice Denys Maliuska.
