As part of the Winter Support initiative, the Government is introducing a subsidy for renting housing for internally displaced persons. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during an offsite meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on 27 December in Zaporizhzhia region.

"Internally displaced persons who spend more than 20% of their income on rent will be eligible for a subsidy, and the state will partially compensate them for these expenses," the Head of Government said, adding that the programme will be launched in January next year.

According to the decision, the subsidy for rental housing for IDPs will now be available in all regions.

In addition, according to Denys Shmyhal, the Government will compensate landlords for a part of their income taxes if they rent an apartment or house to internally displaced persons under an official contract.

The Prime Minister stressed that social support for citizens remains one of the Government's priorities.
