  • Prime Minister visits Chernihiv region to inspect reconstruction of educational and medical institutions

    On 9 August, the Prime Minister of Ukraine and a Government team paid a working visit to Chernihiv region. An offsite meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held, and a number of critical decisions were made, including in the areas of economy, energy, recovery and security.

    During his visit to Chernihiv region, the Head of Government got acquainted with the preparations for the start of the academic year and visited an educational institution that had been damaged as a result of russian aggression and is currently undergoing restoration work.

    "Thanks to the assistance of international organisations, windows and doors, the heating system have already been restored and shelters have been arranged. With the support of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, the reconstruction of the dining room, which was completely destroyed, continues. The Government has allocated appropriate funds for this," said Denys Shmyhal.

    He noted that the reconstruction is based on the principles of barrier-free access and "Build Back Better". The Prime Minister underlined the importance of completing the work according to the schedule so that children could return to full-time education as soon as possible.

    In addition, in Chernihiv region, the Government officials inspected the work and progress of the restoration of a children's hospital damaged by russian shells. With the support of our partners, the hospital has begun repairs and set up a shelter with an autonomous power supply. This will allow the hospital to provide care even when the power is off.

    As part of his working visit, the Prime Minister also paid tribute to the people who had died in the war with russia.
