Prime Minister of Ukraine and UN Secretary-General discuss humanitarian support, food security and demining

During the working visit of the Government delegation to Spain, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government emphasized the importance of supporting the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and humanitarian programs for Ukraine and Ukrainians, to which the UN Secretary-General had personally contributed.

The parties also discussed the need to increase pressure on russia and provide further assistance to our country. Denys Shmyhal informed António Guterres about the enemy's attacks on Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles.

"russia is not willing to negotiate, so we must force it to peace through systemic international pressure, tougher sanctions and providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons to defend itself. I am grateful to the UN for this understanding," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The meeting also focused on the demining of Ukrainian territories.

"The area of potentially mined Ukrainian lands today is about 137,000 km2. Mine action operators are actively working, but the amount of work remains large," said Denys Shmyhal. He emphasized that Ukraine needs additional support from partners in this area.
