Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal chaired a meeting on the implementation of water mains construction projects with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development.
“As a result of russia’s blowing up of the Kakhovka HPP and constant shelling, some settlements in southern Ukraine are facing water supply problems. Back in the summer we started laying water mains in the Inhulets – Kryazheve (Kryvyi Rih), Pokrov – Nikopol – Marganets and Zaporizhzhia – Tomakivka – Marganets sections. In total, the Government has allocated UAH 8.5 billion for this purpose,” said Denys Shmyhal.
Participants in the meeting were briefed on the current status of the work and the need for additional funding. According to the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development, the necessary equipment has been delivered, construction of water pipelines is underway, and results are expected early next year.
The officials also discussed a comprehensive solution to the water supply problem in Mykolaiv.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister gave the necessary instructions to the ministries to speed up the implementation of projects to bring water to the people in the said settlements.
