Prime Minister: We continue to work on expanding the capacity of Ukraine's western border
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal chaired a meeting on the modernisation of existing checkpoints and the construction of new ones on Ukraine's western border, particularly with Romania.
"Ukraine's western border has become a major logistics corridor. We continue to work on expanding its capacity. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, trade turnover on the border with Romania has increased by almost 100%. The development of ports on the Danube and ferry crossings is also among our priorities," said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development estimates, the border with Romania could triple the cargo flow. The Head of Government tasked to work on improving the relevant infrastructure for freight transport both on the Romanian border and on the border with other western neighbours.
According to the Prime Minister, all of the above will allow Ukraine to increase exports to the EU, boost traffic and improve the quality of border crossings.
