Strengthening energy independence of hospitals under the Ray of Hope project: since the start of the year, 17 healthcare facilities have begun generating their own electricity

From January to mid-June 2026, as part of the implementation of the Ray of Hope project, 17 healthcare facilities have started generating their own electricity. The total installed capacity of the commissioned solar power plants amounts to 1,650 kW.

Currently, another 100 facilities are at various stages of implementation, 7 healthcare facilities are at the final stage, and 141 medical institutions are in the stage of developing technical solutions.

The commissioning of 17 healthcare facilities was made possible thanks to international support. In particular, 12 facilities were financed by Germany, and another 5 with support from Sweden.

It should be noted that the Ray of Hope programme is a joint initiative of the European Commission, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, implemented within the Ukraine Energy Support Fund under the coordination of the Energy Community Secretariat.

The goal of the programme is to strengthen the energy resilience of healthcare facilities by equipping them with solar panels, energy storage systems, and other equipment to ensure guaranteed electricity supply and uninterrupted operation even under challenging conditions.
