  • Deepening cooperation in the energy sector: Energy Ministers of Ukraine and Bulgaria sign memorandum

    The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen cooperation in the energy sector. The document was signed by Ministers of Energy of the two countries, German Galushchenko and Rumen Radev, in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Nikolai Denkov in Sofia.

    “We are deepening cooperation in the energy sector and will develop cooperation in accordance with the strategies of our countries in the field of nuclear energy, green energy, hydrogen, energy storage systems and smart grids,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

    The purpose of the Memorandum of Understanding is to create a framework for deepening cooperation in the energy sector of the Republic of Bulgaria and Ukraine based on the principle of mutual benefit and taking into account the common interests and goals of both countries. According to the Memorandum, the parties will intensify the provision of expert and engineering services and solutions in the field of nuclear energy through independent expertise in assessing the safety of nuclear facilities and the exchange of experts, access to infrastructure and participation in joint projects and initiatives involving joint activities in the field of nuclear energy.

    In addition, the Memorandum provides for the promotion of cooperation in all stages of the nuclear fuel cycle, activities and services related to the life extension of nuclear facilities in order to improve safety and/or performance. The exchange of knowledge and experience on the protection of energy infrastructure against physical, electromagnetic and cyber threats is also identified as a priority for cooperation.
