This year, the Government has increased payments to various categories of pensioners tenfold. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced during the Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada on December 17.

"In March, pensions were indexed for almost 8 million retirees. Together with the parliamentarians, we passed a bill that will finally fix the indexation for absolutely all pensioners in March," said the Prime Minister.

Denys Shmyhal added that in April there had taken place an increase in payments to working pensioners, and in July for the first time - in the newly assigned pensions, which since 2019 had not been recalculated.

"Also in July, payments were raised by UAH 2,000 for military retirees. Since 2018, in fact, pensions for military retirees have been frozen. We have found the resource and finally changed it. Another category of pensioners who received a significant increase in July are Chernobyl accident victims," the Head of Government said.

According to the Prime Minister, the minimum pension was increased in July this year and then another increase in December. There was also a raise in pension supplements for overtime pensionable service.
