Preparation of Ramstein meetings and strengthening air defence: Denys Shmyhal held talks with German Defence Minister

Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a conversation with Germany’s Minister of Defence, Boris Pistorius.

The head of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence emphasised that Germany remains a key partner in strengthening Ukraine’s defence capabilities.

“During the conversation, I expressed gratitude for the support provided, particularly within the framework of international coalitions and defence packages. We discussed the outcomes of the Ramstein meeting. I thank Germany for co-organising the session. We are preparing for the next meetings of the Contact Group,” said Denys Shmyhal.

He outlined the urgent needs of Ukraine’s Defence Forces for the remainder of the year and informed his German counterpart about the latest russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and the people killed by russian forces overnight.

“I stressed that Ukraine critically needs to bolster its air defence. I expressed gratitude for the support in supplying Patriot systems. This is an extremely important step that saves lives. We will continue close cooperation to strengthen our shared security,” concluded Denys Shmyhal.
