The heating season and preparations for the next autumn-winter period are the main topics covered by the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters. Its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal was held on 18 February.
According to the Head of Government, the participants reviewed the situation with gas supply and gas production in the context of russian shelling. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Naftogaz of Ukraine made presentations.
"Special attention is paid to the protection and restoration of key critical infrastructure facilities of the gas transmission system, storage facilities and gas production sites," Denys Shmyhal said and added that the Ministry of Energy was instructed to coordinate this process together with the military.
In addition, the meeting participants received information from the Ministry of Energy, public and private companies on Ukrainian gas production and storage capacity, including targets for this year.
"We rely on Ukrainian gas and must consistently increase our own production," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister gave a number of instructions to various agencies. In particular, Naftogaz should prepare a strategy for gas imports, if necessary, to cover a possible shortage in the gas transmission system.
"We are preparing for all possible options. The main task of all those involved is to ensure uninterrupted gas supply for household consumers," stressed Denys Shmyhal.
