At about 11:30 am today, the duty shift officers detected smoke on the site of disposal of unexploded ordnance at the technical territory of the ammo depot near Kalynivka town of Vinnytsia region.
Six explosions of ammunition previously taken to a designated area for further disposal were recorded in the smoke area.
An operational group headed by the first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine arrived at the scene.
1:18 pm. Specialists of the State Emergency Service, employees of the National Police and the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working in the territory of the arsenal to localize the problem. The measures are undertaken to localize the problem.
According to preliminary information, the burning of about two hectares of dry grass caused the smoke.
The situation poses no threats to the military and civilians, none was injured.
The situation is under control.
3:15 pm. Measures are being taken to prevent an emergency situation on the territory of the military ammunition depot in Kalynivka, Vinnytsia region.
Thus, operational group headed by the first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted overflights and assessed the situation on the territory of the depot.
As of now, the problem is localized. In some places of the technical area, there occurs smoke. Fire brigades and bomb technicians are on site.
Detonation of ammunition is not detected, there are no threats to military personnel and residents of nearby settlements.
7:00 pm. All areas of flame development that occured on the technical territory of the depot near Kalynivka have been completely extinguished and there is no risk of re-ignition. This was reported by the Task Force on Emergency Management at the arsenal, headed by First Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Serhii Korniychuk.
Due to the rapid interaction of specialists, it was possible to localize the fire areas in a short period of time and to eliminate them completely.
