  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of 9:00 a.m. on June 16, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 32,476 COVID-19 cases, 912 patients died, 14,528 people recovered. During the 24 hours, 666 new cases have been confirmed.

    A total of 507,251 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 89,358 samples using ELISA method.

    In total 2,402 cases among children and 5,600 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. A total of 9,215 people were hospitalized. There are 319 people having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines.

    As of June 16, coronavirus disease was registered:

    • Vinnytsia region – 1,455 cases (890 recovered);
    • Volyn region – 1,499 cases (460 recovered);
    • Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,004 cases (724 recovered);
    • Donetsk region - 338 cases (128 recovered);
    • Zhytomyr region – 1,101 cases (559 recovered);
    • Zakarpattia region – 1,726 cases (706 recovered);
    • Zaporizhia region – 531 cases (336 recovered);
    • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1,809 cases (1,037 recovered);
    • Kirovohrad region - 590 cases (487 recovered);
    • Kyiv – 3,985 cases (1,164 recovered);
    • Kyiv region – 2,049 cases (829 recovered);
    • Lviv region – 3,072 cases (639 recovered);
    • Luhansk region - 60 cases (47 recovered);
    • Mykolaiv region - 321 cases (216 recovered);
    • Odesa region – 1,133 cases (426 recovered);
    • Poltava region - 279 cases (258 recovered);
    • Rivne region – 2,473 cases (1,379 recovered);
    • Sumy region - 228 cases (168 recovered);
    • Ternopil region – 1,483 cases (1,024 recovered);
    • Kharkiv region – 1, 595 cases (752 recovered);
    • Kherson region – 183 cases (174 recovered);
    • Khmelnytsky region - 560 cases (422 recovered);
    • Chernivtsi region – 4,013 cases (1,265 recovered);
    • Cherkasy region - 562 cases (357 recovered);
    • Chernihiv region - 427 cases (81 recovered).

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories. As of morning June 16, 2020, there have been received 1,388 suspicions of COVID-19 infection. Overall, from the start of the year, there have been received 73,517 suspicion reports.

    The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
