  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of July 8, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 50,414 COVID-19 cases, 23,119 people recovered, 1,306 patients died. During the 24 hours, 807 new cases have been confirmed.

    The number of registered active cases as of July 8 is 25,989 people. The largest number of active patients per 100,000 population was registered in Chernivtsi (274.4), Lviv (215.8) and Zakarpattia (183.1) regions.

    Now 4,039 people are undergoing inpatient treatment. There are 91 people out of this number having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines. A total of 13,443 people needed hospitalization, 418 patients needed to undergo mechanical ventilation treatment.

    In total 3,634 cases among children and 7,092 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. 36,971 patients have been undergoing outpatient treatment.

    A total of 745,313 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 298,298 samples using ELISA method. During the 24 hours, 13,568 samples were tested using PCR method.

    As of July 8, coronavirus disease was registered:

    • Vinnytsia region – 2,002 cases (1,411 recovered);
    • Volyn region – 2,825 cases (1,030 recovered);
    • Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,120 cases (1,000 recovered);
    • Donetsk region - 713 cases (203 recovered);
    • Zhytomyr region – 1,484 cases (1,061 recovered);
    • Zakarpattia region – 3,533 cases (1,117 recovered);
    • Zaporizhia region – 599 cases (464 recovered);
    • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 2,797 cases (1,204 recovered);
    • Kirovohrad region - 664 cases (570 recovered);
    • Kyiv – 5,779 cases (1,900 recovered);
    • Kyiv region – 2,853 cases (1,623 recovered);
    • Lviv region – 6,562 cases (974 recovered);
    • Luhansk region - 87 cases (69 recovered);
    • Mykolaiv region - 463 cases (330 recovered);
    • Odesa region – 1,984 cases (863 recovered);
    • Poltava region - 326 cases (278 recovered);
    • Rivne region – 4,304 cases (2,272 recovered);
    • Sumy region - 323 (264 recovered);
    • Ternopil region – 2,142 (1,327 recovered);
    • Kharkiv region – 2,466 (1,261 recovered);
    • Kherson region – 201 (184 recovered);
    • Khmelnytsky region - 863 (603 recovered);
    • Chernivtsi region – 5,051 (2,386 recovered);
    • Cherkasy region - 695 (529 recovered);
    • Chernihiv region - 578 (196 recovered).

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
