Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of December 18, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 12,630 (620 children out of this number, 552 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 366,903.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 2,904 persons, 260 patients died, 12,866 persons recovered. There have been conducted 68,759 testing (42,340 using the PCR method and 26,419 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 944,381 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 561,222 people recovered;
  • 16,256 people died;
  • 5,209,462 testing have been conducted.

The largest number of confirmed cases in the last 24 hours was registered in Kyiv city (1,658), Zaporizhia region (1,022), Odesa region (925), Kyiv region (922), Cherkasy region (583).

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
