  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of July 17, in Ukraine, there have been officially confirmed 57,264 COVID-19 cases, 29,769 people recovered, 1,456 patients died. During the 24 hours, 809 new cases have been confirmed.

    The number of registered active cases as of July 17 is 26,079 people. The largest number of active patients per 100,000 population was registered in Lviv (248.7), Chernivtsi (204.3) and Zakarpattia (206.2) regions.

    Now 3,876 people are undergoing inpatient treatment. There are 92 people out of this number having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines. A total of 15,095 people needed hospitalization, 454 patients needed to undergo mechanical ventilation treatment.

    In total 4,068 cases among children and 7,723 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. 42,169 patients have been undergoing outpatient treatment.

    A total of 854,064 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 420,369 using ELISA method. During 24 hours, 13,108 samples were tested using PCR method.

    As of July 17, coronavirus disease was registered:

    • Vinnytsia region – 2,253 cases (1,711 recovered);
    • Volyn region – 3,188 (2,000 recovered);
    • Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,174 cases (1,057 recovered);
    • Donetsk region - 781 cases (298 recovered);
    • Zhytomyr region – 1,580 cases (1,234 recovered);
    • Zakarpattia region – 4,229 cases (1,499);
    • Zaporizhia region – 658 cases (535);
    • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 3,309 cases (1,286);
    • Kirovohrad region - 677 cases (601);
    • Kyiv – 6,689 cases (2,320);
    • Kyiv region – 3,184 cases (2,154);
    • Lviv region – 7,754 cases (1,305);
    • Luhansk region - 100 cases (76);
    • Mykolaiv region - 504 cases (401);
    • Odesa region – 2,435 cases (1,081);
    • Poltava region - 347 cases (307);
    • Rivne region – 4,940 cases (3,395);
    • Sumy region – 352 (304);
    • Ternopil region – 2,358 (1,504);
    • Kharkiv region – 2,909 (1,570);
    • Kherson region – 207 (190);
    • Khmelnytsky region – 942 (804);
    • Chernivtsi region – 5,262 (3,217);
    • Cherkasy region – 800 (611);
    • Chernihiv region – 632 (309).

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
