
Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection
According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of July 16, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 56,455 COVID-19 cases, 28,931 people recovered, 1,455 patients died. During the 24 hours, 848 new cases have been confirmed.
The number of registered active cases as of July 16 is 26,079 people. The largest number of active patients per 100,000 population was registered in Lviv (246.1), Chernivtsi (212.4) and Zakarpattia (208.8) regions.
Now 3,875 people are undergoing inpatient treatment. There are 79 people out of this number having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines. A total of 14,884 people needed hospitalization, 449 patients needed to undergo mechanical ventilation treatment.
In total 4,003 cases among children and 7,591 cases among healthcare workers were recorded. 41,571 patients have been undergoing outpatient treatment.
A total of 840,332 samples in Ukraine were tested using PCR method and 403,893 using ELISA method. During 24 hours, 13,013 samples were tested using PCR method.
As of July 16, coronavirus disease was registered:
- Vinnytsia region – 2,221 cases (1,673 recovered);
- Volyn region – 3,147 (1,954 recovered);
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 1,163 cases (1,055 recovered);
- Donetsk region - 776 cases (294 recovered);
- Zhytomyr region – 1,569 cases (1,226 recovered);
- Zakarpattia region – 4,166 cases (1,405);
- Zaporizhia region – 642 cases (535);
- Ivano-Frankivsk region – 3,232 cases (1,259);
- Kirovohrad region - 675 cases (595);
- Kyiv – 6,613 cases (2,160);
- Kyiv region – 3,144 cases (2,140);
- Lviv region – 7,622 cases (1,242);
- Luhansk region - 98 cases (74);
- Mykolaiv region - 498 cases (396);
- Odesa region – 2,375 cases (1,055);
- Poltava region - 343 cases (307);
- Rivne region – 4,852 cases (3,247);
- Sumy region – 348 (304);
- Ternopil region – 2,337 (1,469);
- Kharkiv region – 2,845 (1,547);
- Kherson region – 206 (189);
- Khmelnytsky region – 930 (789);
- Chernivtsi region – 5,232 (3,115);
- Cherkasy region – 783 (609);
- Chernihiv region – 628 (292).
Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
