Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of January 16, in Ukraine, there have been officially confirmed 7,729 (245 children out of this number, 369 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 276,823.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 2,083 persons, 144 patients died, 9,792 persons recovered. There have been conducted 48,700 testing (29,363 using the PCR method and 19,337 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,154,692 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 857,183 people recovered;
  • 20,686 people died;
  • 5,934,439 testing have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
