  • Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

    According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of 9:00 a.m. on May 7, in Ukraine there have been confirmed 13,691 COVID-19 cases, 340 patients died, 2,396 patients recovered. In total 933 cases in children and 2,660 in healthcare workers were recorded. During the 24 hours, 507 new cases have been confirmed.

    As of May 7, coronavirus disease was registered:

    • Vinnytsia region - 485 cases;
    • Volyn region - 393 cases;
    • Dnipropetrovsk region - 624 cases;
    • Donetsk region - 89 cases;
    • Zhytomyr region - 468 cases;
    • Zakarpattia region - 600 cases;
    • Zaporizhia region - 300 cases;
    • Ivano-Frankivsk region – 1,055 cases;
    • Kirovograd region - 403 cases;
    • Kyiv – 1,675 cases;
    • Kyiv region - 916 cases;
    • Lviv region - 595 cases;
    • Luhansk region - 42 cases;
    • Mykolaiv region - 171 cases;
    • Odesa region - 568 cases;
    • Poltava region - 236 cases;
    • Rivne region - 817 cases;
    • Sumy region - 131 cases;
    • Ternopil region - 951 cases;
    • Kharkiv region - 448 cases;
    • Kherson region – 146 cases;
    • Khmelnytsky region - 138 cases;
    • Chernivtsi region – 2,048 cases;
    • Cherkasy region - 324 cases;
    • Chernihiv region - 68 cases.

    Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available.

    9,498 patients, out of this number 763 children and 2,193 medical personnel have been undergoing outpatient treatment. A total of 4,193 people were hospitalized, including 170 children and 467 healthcare workers. There are 178 people including 1 child and 15 healthcare workers having severe symptoms and undergoing treatment with the use of artificial lung ventilation machines.

    As a result of the complications caused by the disease, 340 people died with 19 healthcare workers out of this number. 86% of deaths occurs in the 50 and above age group.

    The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories. As of the morning of May 7, 2020, the Center received 1,182 reports of suspected COVID-19 cases. Since the beginning of 2020, 35,904 COVID-19 suspicions have been received.

    The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine urges when having the first symptoms of respiratory illnesses to call a family doctor. Stay home! Self-isolation is the most efficient way to protect yourself from infection.
