Olha Stefanishyna meets with Romania's Foreign Minister on the sidelines of URC2025

Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice of Ukraine, met with Romania's Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu. The meeting took place in Rome, Italy, on the sidelines of the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference on 11 July.

Olha Stefanishyna congratulated her Romanian counterpart on her appointment.

"We are grateful for the assistance provided by Romania since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, as well as for supporting both our country on the path to EU membership and the EU enlargement process. We are determined to further develop and deepen our productive cooperation, and we greatly appreciate Romania's experience on the path to European integration," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

For her part, Oana Țoiu expressed hope for further development of the partnership between the two countries, stressing the importance of the practical dimension of Ukraine's integration into the EU.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of the speedy adoption of the 18th package of EU sanctions against russia and focused on opportunities to intensify economic ties, in particular between business managers. In this context, Oana Țoiu noted that Romania pays special attention to the development of border infrastructure and cross-border cooperation between the countries.

"Ukraine is interested in implementing joint projects," Olha Stefanishyna emphasised, noting that she hopes to have the Romania's support in attracting European funding for such projects.

The Deputy Prime Minister also informed her colleague about the progress of the negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU and stressed the importance of making a decision on opening the first negotiating cluster with Ukraine and Moldova as soon as possible.
