Ukraine, the Russian Federation and the European Commission have drawn up a protocol that is nearing the signing of a gas transit contract. On December 19, Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Oleksiy Orzhel announced at a press conference following the talks.
"Our today’s work has been very efficient. The final protocol of the decision, which brings us closer to the signing of the final agreements, has been drafted," the Minister emphasized.
According to him, at this stage, the final positions of Kyiv and Moscow need to be approved.
"That is, we have to reconcile our last positions with the capitals - Kyiv and Moscow. Brussels will also be directly connected. In the near future, I believe that we will achieve positive results for all parties," Oleksiy Orzhel emphasized.
He thanked the European Commission Vice President Maroš Šefčovič for his role in the negotiations as well as the German side.
"We are very grateful for the efforts being made by our European colleagues and friends to ensure the result we are all working to achieve," the Minister noted.
