On St. Nicholas Day Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk together with Minister of Social Policy Yulia Sokolovska visited children in two family-type children's home. There are eight children in one family, and ten in the other.

"In Ukraine over 100,000 children live and study in boarding schools. Out of this number, 6,000 are orphan children. Others kids have at least one parent who, for various reasons, decided to send their children to boarding establishments. This isn’t right! Children should be brought up in families or in forms close to family ones because children are better socialized and prepared for independent life in such conditions", Oleksiy Honcharuk stressed.

According to the Prime Minister, the Government’s Action Program stipulates for reduction of the number of boarding schools in Ukraine, and accordingly the number of children in such establishments.

Oleksiy Honcharuk together with a computer academy Shag (Step) presented a digital literacy training course to children. "The new generation is a totally new reality. Children from an early age know how to use smartphones and tablets. That is why we have decided that IT training is a good start for a professional background," the Prime Minister underscored.
