The Government appealed to National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) to settle issues concerning two gas bills and its transportation. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk said during A Question Time for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada.
"It will be more appropriate if a person receives utility bills for these two services in one pay receipt. The decision to split the payments is made by an independent regulator - NEURC. That is why we called on Commission to optimize this issue," Oleksiy Honcharuk stated.
The PM explained that because of unbundling, i.e. the separation of gas services and its transportation, people receive two payments according to European standards.
According to the Head of Government, the total sum of two payments is still less than the sum of one payment last year
It became possible due to the hand-in-glove work of the President, the Government, and the Verkhovna Rada: "We have launched the unbundling process in record time, thanks to the law passed by the MPs. This gave us the opportunity to complete negotiations with European and Russian sides. As a result, the price of gas this winter is absolutely lower than it might have been if a new gas contract has not been inked. Our international partners praise such work as well. "
