The Cabinet of Ministers has established a Government commission to investigate into the causes of the fire in Odesa. The relevant order was adopted today at an extraordinary meeting of the Government.
“I express condolences to the families of the dead and all the victims of this horrific tragedy. The fires in Odesa have become not extraordinary situations, but systematic cases that claim people's lives. We have to find out the reason why such a disaster occurred. All those guilty will be punished with the full force of the law, regardless of their positions or status,” accentuated Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk.
The Commission must determine the cause of the fire in a building occupied by Odesa Economics, Law and Hotel Management College and will report to the Government on the results of the investigation till December 20, 2019.
The Commission is composed of First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Serhii Yarovy, Minister of Education and Science Hanna Novosad, Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Tymofii Mylovanov, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Aliona Babak, Minister of Health Zoriana Skaletska, Minister of Social Policy Yulia Sokolovska, Head of the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechotkin, Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko and representatives of the Odesa Regional State Administration.
Moreover, the Prime Minister commissioned the State Emergency Service to carry out extraordinary inspections of fire safety rules in public spaces with increased danger.
