  • Oleksiy Honcharuk discussed with Prime Minister of Georgia development of transport corridor the Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Caspian Sea

    On December 13, Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk met with Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia as part of his official visit to Ukraine. During the meeting, the Heads of Government discussed the issues related to strengthening bilateral cooperation, in particular in the sphere of trade.

    "We propose to kick off active work on the development of the freight transportation system using the direct international ferry connection between Ukraine and Georgia, as well as the liberalization of railway ferry services between the ports of Ukraine and Georgia. The project we are working on and which will be equally interesting to Georgia is the transport corridor Baltic Sea - Black Sea - Caspian Sea. We count on Georgia's active participation in this project," Oleksiy Honcharuk stressed.

    Touching upon infrastructure projects, the Prime Minister of Ukraine added: "Concession competitions for Olvia and Kherson seaports are currently being held. The representative of Georgia is one of the participants of such competition. We praise the interest of your citizens and businesses in Ukrainian projects."

    The next issue discussed at the meeting was the deepening of the integration of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova into the European Union. Oleksiy Honcharuk made the following statement: "It is important to promote the idea of applying a new in-depth integration format for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. Such deepening of integration can be implemented through the recently proposed Trio 2030 Strategy format. In this regard it is paramount to uphold the position enshrined in the joint statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of our countries. "

    The Prime Minister of Georgia emphasized: "Our Government stands ready to exert efforts to strengthen the cooperation of our nations and achieve common results."

    Finally, the parties discussed the need to structure bilateral cooperation formats and plan the implementation of joint projects, in particular in the field of infrastructure.
