Oleksii Chernyshov: Energy Efficiency Fund will increase compensations for participants of the Energodim program in 2022
The program of the Energy Efficiency Fund Energodim is designed to save up to 70% of the cost of energy efficiency measures. Work is currently underway to increase projects in number and the amount of compensation for Program participants. This was announced by the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov at the opening of the Eighth Coordination Council of Donors of the Energy Efficiency Fund in which participated Deputy Director General of the Directorate of Neighborhood and Enlargement of the European Commission Katarína Mathernová and representatives of the Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
"Ukraine is moving towards energy independence. Within the program of the Energy Efficiency Fund there are implemented advanced projects on complex thermal modernization of residential buildings. This helps reducing energy consumption by 40%, 50%, 60%. As of January 21, the Fund received 880 applications from condominiums to participate in the Energodim program, the total cost of projects exceeds UAH 7.3 billion, grants - UAH 4.5 billion. More than 80,000 families participate in the Program and more than 200 homes were partially or completely modernized. Support for the applicants is currently increasing. And we are working to increase the number of projects accordingly, because the necessary resources for their implementation are available. I thank our European partners for their constant support," said Minister Oleksii Chernyshov.
In particular, during the meeting there were agreed changes to the grant policy of the Energy Efficiency Fund, providing an additional grant of 10% of the cost of works, materials and equipment for participants of the program Energodim - for applicants who apply to the Fund by September 30, 2022 (or until reaching 1,200 applications to the Fund). This option will be available when the authorized capital of the Fund is increased by the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, in the amount provided by the Law of Ukraine on the State Budget for 2022. The Ministry Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine invites citizens to take advantage of this additional opportunity.
In turn, Ms. Katarína Mathernová noted that the attention of central and local authorities of Ukraine to energy efficiency demonstrates the key priorities of the state. She expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation in the field of energy efficiency.
As was reported earlier the Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov noted that Ukraine was confidently moving towards European integration, including joining the European Green Deal initiative.
Background
In 2018, between the representatives of the European Union - the European Commission and the Government of Ukraine - the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, two agreements were signed, EE4U and EE4UII - on the financing of the Energy Efficiency Fund by the European Union. Under the arrangements, the EU has provided € 100 million in grants to co-finance thermal modernization projects for multi-apartment buildings, including grants for condominiums.
