Oleksii Kuleba: The enemy continues to attack civilian maritime logistics in Odesa region
russian troops continue targeted attacks on civilian maritime logistics in Odesa region.
In particular, on April 14, a drone strike damaged a civilian merchant vessel flying the Liberian flag, which was traveling through the maritime corridor to load corn.
The crew quickly extinguished the fire. There were no casualties. The vessel could continue its journey and reach its destination port.
That same night, strike drones attacked the port of Izmail, as well as a civilian vessel flying the Panamanian flag. Several hits on port infrastructure were recorded.
“Despite the latest attacks, operations at seaports remain stable. Emergency repair and restoration work is ongoing on the ground. Ukraine continues to ensure the functioning of the maritime corridor, which is critically important for the export of Ukrainian products, particularly agricultural goods, and for supporting global food security,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
In spite of constant attacks, the Ukrainian maritime corridor continues to operate. Since it began operations in September 2023, it has transported over 190 million tonnes of cargo, of which more than 110 million tonnes is grain, which is critical for global food security.
