Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, met with German Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder during intergovernmental consultations in Berlin.

At the meeting, the Ukrainian side thanked the German government for its practical support of Ukraine’s transport sector.

“Recently, the first vehicles were delivered to Ukrainian railway workers as part of a support package that also includes generators and construction equipment. This is exactly the kind of assistance that works on the ground and strengthens our ability to respond quickly to challenges. I am grateful to our German colleagues for this aid,” emphasized Oleksii Kuleba.

The parties discussed the restoration and modernization of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure. According to RDNA5 estimates, direct losses to the transport sector already exceed USD 40 billion, requiring systematic international solutions and long-term financial instruments.

Special attention was paid to Germany’s participation in international support mechanisms, particularly within the framework of the CIG4U (Common Interest Group for Transport in Ukraine) initiative and the Transport Support Fund, launched during the High-Level Dialogue on Transport in Ukraine in Stockholm. The Ukrainian side expects further progress in this direction during the International Transport Forum in Leipzig.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to road transportation between Ukraine and the European Union. The Ukrainian side emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent framework for the road freight transport agreement to ensure the stability of logistics chains and support exports.

A separate topic of discussion was cooperation in the field of rail transport, which remains critically important for logistics, the evacuation of the population, and ensuring exports.
