Oleksii Kuleba met with the mayor of Gdańsk to discuss preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026

Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine — Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba held a bilateral meeting with Gdańsk Mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, during which they discussed preparations for the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 and the role of local self-government in Ukraine’s recovery.

In 2026, Gdańsk will host the URC—a key international platform for discussing Ukraine’s reconstruction, community development, and attracting international investment. During the meeting, the parties focused on the conference’s substantive agenda, particularly on strengthening the local and regional dimensions of recovery.

Oleksii Kuleba thanked the city of Gdańsk for its consistent support of Ukraine and solidarity with Ukrainians. Since the start of the full-scale war, the city has become a refuge for a significant number of Ukrainian citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to russian aggression.

Special attention during the conversation was given to community development, modern approaches to urban planning, the quality of municipal services, and the role of cities in long-term recovery. The Ukrainian side also shared practical experience in ensuring the resilience of cities in wartime—protecting infrastructure, providing basic services, and supporting communities under constant attack.

“At the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026, we must significantly strengthen the dimension of local and regional self-government—a separate track dedicated to communities, their needs, projects, and long-term development. It is precisely cooperation between cities, the exchange of experience, and direct partnerships that build a stronger Ukraine and a stronger Europe,” emphasized Oleksii Kuleba.
