The fifth meeting of the Headquarters for the preparation of housing and communal services and the fuel and energy sector for the autumn-winter period of 2024/25 took place.

"Together with communities and regions, we are preparing for the heating season. We have an extremely challenging winter ahead, so we need to prepare for all possible scenarios and challenges of the war. We discussed problematic and topical issues with the communities. We paid special attention to the frontline settlements and those communities that suffer from russian aggression. Our task is to coordinate the work so that Ukrainians‘ homes have light and heating in winter,’ said Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

Among the outlined tasks are as follows:

    • Preparing TPPs and CHPPs for stable operation in winter.
    • Ensuring the installation of cogeneration units and modular boiler houses in the affected regions.
    • Preparing for alternative scenarios in case of force majeure, including attacks on critical infrastructure.
    • Implementation of measures to protect critical infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted energy supply.
    • Creating mechanisms for sustainable water supply in areas at risk.
    • Considering communities' initiatives to introduce individual heating to optimise resources in winter.

Oleksiy Kuleba also called on communities to actively cooperate and work together. In particular, the Ministry expects requests for the necessary resources for the heating season.
