During a working visit to Belgium, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov met with the Ukrainian community in Brussels.

The Deputy Prime Minister informed the community that this visit to Brussels was dedicated, among other things, to consultations regarding the duration of temporary protection for Ukrainians in the EU. He emphasised that the Ministry of National Unity, together with its partners, was working to ensure the extension of temporary protection, as it must remain in place until long-term and sustainable peace is achieved.

The meeting also addressed a legislative initiative to introduce multiple citizenship in Ukraine. Oleksiy Chernyshov expressed confidence that this strategic step would enable Ukrainians, wherever they may be, to maintain ties with their homeland and contribute to its future.

“We had an open discussion about the most pressing issues: the future of temporary protection status, education, employment, preserving identity, and the possibility of returning home. I am sincerely grateful to the Ukrainians in Belgium for their trust, strength, and desire to remain part of Ukraine, regardless of the circumstances,” said Oleksiy Chernyshov.
