Oleksiy Chernyshov meets with Ukrainian community in Rome
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov met with the Ukrainian community in Rome, where he presented a project to establish a Unity Centre in Italy.
According to him, the centre will serve as a hub where Ukrainians can access essential information, administrative services, and actively contribute to Ukraine’s reconstruction in the future. The centres will also help bring people together around Ukrainian culture and events.
“Our community in Italy is highly active and very enthusiastic about the establishment of such a hub. Together, we are building a strong Ukraine, and this journey is impossible without the support of every Ukrainian,” emphasised the Deputy Prime Minister.
The meeting also addressed issues of countering enemy propaganda and preserving Ukrainian identity. Oleksiy Chernyshov stressed that the best defence against disinformation is a strong sense of conviction, Ukrainian identity, and connection to the homeland.
Additionally, the community raised numerous questions about multiple citizenship. The Deputy Prime Minister informed them that Ukrainian MPs, the Ministry of National Unity team, and colleagues from other agencies and state institutions are already preparing a revised draft of the relevant bill for its second reading.
Oleksiy Chernyshov explained that the Ministry of National Unity’s priorities include systematic engagement with Ukrainian communities abroad and their involvement in the life of the state.
“The unity of the Ukrainian people is the Ministry’s key objective. Wherever Ukrainians are today, we are one nation. I thank everyone who attended the event, and I express particular gratitude to all those who, despite challenges and distance, continue to maintain a strong bond with the homeland,” concluded the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity.
