Oleksii Chernyshov discussed the implementation of projects of restoration and development of territories with the management of the USAID HOVERLA Project

The Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Chernyshov, held a meeting with the head of the USAID HOVERLA Project, Gabriel Abraham, to tackle the implementation of projects for the restoration and development of territories.

"We discussed the status of work in the USAID HOVERLA projects in Ukrainian communities. The key vectors for the direction of efforts were outlined: the stable passage of the heating season, housing for IDPs, strengthening of communities' energy independence, and a comprehensive assessment of their needs. The goal is to ensure quick and effective cooperation between Ukrainian communities and international partners," said Oleksii Chernyshov.

The parties agreed to meet in a month in order to coordinate the stances in the implementation of common goals.

HOVERLA is one of the USAID-funded major projects in support of local self-government bodies and decentralization reform, with a budget of USD 74 million, and is being implemented by DAI from March 2021 to March 2026. The management structure of the project includes a central office in Kyiv and 6 regional offices, which support 7 regions and 65 communities. In 2021, cooperation began with 25 communities in three regions: Lviv, Poltava, and Volyn. In 2022, cooperation was launched with 40 communities in four regions: Odesa, Rivne, Zakarpattia, and Zhytomyr. The support involves facilitating the implementation of transformations at the local level, strengthening the capacity of local governments and their officials to exercise the relevant powers.

It's worth noting that earlier the USAID HOVERLA Project announced a partnership with 40 new communities.
