Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov joined the meeting of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the leader of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany Friedrich Merz on 9 December in Kyiv.
Among other things, the parties discussed the issue of Ukrainian citizens who left for Germany due to the full-scale russian invasion. The President of Ukraine announced that a visit to Berlin by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity had already been scheduled.
In his turn, Oleksiy Chernyshov stressed that the newly created Ministry of National Unity would focus on supporting Ukrainians temporarily displaced by the russian invasion, both inside and outside the country.
“First of all, I would like to thank Germany for its strong military, humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine. Germany is one of the countries in Europe that temporarily hosts the largest number of our citizens. This fact underlines the importance of partnership between our countries, especially in times of war. It is important for us not only to maintain but also to strengthen our cooperation to support Ukrainians,” said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity.
To remind, the Government has renamed the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories to the Ministry of National Unity.
