Ukrzaliznytsia has registered a railway operator to operate in the European market. The European operator will be called Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland and will carry out transportation between Ukraine and European countries.
“Today, the European direction of railway transport for Ukraine is a matter of fast logistics and support for the Ukrainian economy. The creation of a European operator will significantly improve the management of freight transport to Europe. At the same time, we are modernising the border infrastructure and increasing its capacity,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
In the first stage of its operation, Ukrainian Railways Cargo Poland is expected to focus on the following areas:
“We are integrating the Ukrainian rail freight system into the European space and starting to build a full-fledged freight operator in the EU. The main principle of our international division will be close relations with foreign partners, transparency and competition to ensure a worthy representation of Ukrzaliznytsia in the international arena,” said Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
The long-term strategy of the international division is in the final stage of development and will be approved by Ukrzaliznytsia’s supervisory board in the near future.
