On 1 April, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleh Nemchinov met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Anastasios Chatzivasileiou.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Ukraine Alexandros Dimitrakopoulos, representatives of the Embassy of Greece in Ukraine, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka, representatives of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and UkraineInvest.

“I am pleased to meet you as the Chair of the Greek part of the Joint Ukrainian-Greek Intergovernmental Working Group on Economic, Industrial, Technical and Scientific Cooperation. I look forward to further fruitful dialogue and active cooperation. We are grateful to Greece for its unwavering support and assistance to Ukraine during the full-scale war. Today, Ukraine continues to transform its economy and integrate into the European Union market, which opens up new opportunities for cooperation. In addition, we can note an increase in trade between our countries. Ukraine is ready to continue to make efforts to further develop trade and economic cooperation and use all available opportunities and prospects,” said Oleh Nemchinov, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

It is essential to intensify the efforts of the Joint Ukrainian-Greek Intergovernmental Working Group on Economic, Industrial, Technical and Scientific Cooperation and to hold its next meeting, given the significant untapped potential in trade and investment cooperation. The Ukrainian side is grateful to the Government of Greece for holding a joint meeting in February 2024 in Athens.

Background

According to the 2024 results, Greece ranks 11th among Ukraine’s European trading partners, with a share of 3.79% of total trade. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2024, bilateral trade between Ukraine and Greece amounted to USD 2,475.5 million, an increase of 51.7% compared to 2023. Ukrainian exports to Greece reached USD 409.2 million (up by 58.9%), while imports of Greek goods to Ukraine totalled USD 2,066.3 million (up by 50.4%).
