Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine/Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Uruskyy held a series of meetings on urgent issues of reforming and developing the defense industry of Ukraine. Representatives of enterprises and institutions involved in the process of increasing the country's defense capabilities took part in the events.
During the meetings, the management of Ukroboronprom reported on the current situation at the enterprises of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, the reports of heads of the main manufacturers of armaments and military equipment, as well as special exporters were heard. The issues of reforming and development of the armored and aviation industries, production of high-precision weapons, radar equipment and ammunition, as well as the work of exporters were discussed.
During the professional discussions, it was agreed that the country's scientific potential allows to create modern and effective models of armaments and military equipment, but there is a need for deep reform of the structure and management system of strategic industries, especially defense and aerospace. The legal framework in the field of investment activities aimed at modernization and renewal of the production process, development of domestic and borrowing of modern foreign technologies needs serious improvement.
The participants were acquainted with the plans of the Ministry of Strategic Industries to corporatize enterprises and create management holding companies: "Defense Systems of Ukraine" and "Aerospace Systems of Ukraine", which will include a number of subholdings that will be established by areas of activity. In particular: high-precision weapons, radar systems, ammunition and special chemicals, armored vehicles, etc. Emphasis was placed on the need to strengthen the state's defense capabilities by accelerating the implementation of a number of existing and promising projects, as well as the production of modern deterrent weapons, which will meet the current challenges and threats to Ukraine's security.
