On April 6, 2023, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi met with UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education Stefania Giannini.
“After the outbreak of the full-scale russian-Ukrainian war, the destruction and damage caused to our education and science are enormous. Today, education and science is the second front for us. It is a struggle for the future of Ukraine. That is why the support of the international community, and UNESCO in particular, is extremely valuable at this time,” said Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss joint steps of cooperation, including the development of an ecosystem of digital solutions in education and science, the creation of a safe digital educational environment, and the provision of educational institutions with the necessary digital tools.
The Minister stressed that one of the priorities of the Ministry’s team was to establish sustainable cooperation with an international coalition of donors and partners. The coalition will also prioritise the security of the educational process, responding to the challenges of war, restoring damaged and destroyed educational institutions, and analysing and continuing reforms in general secondary education, vocational and higher education.
