Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko took part in a discussion panel at the Forum on Economic Resilience and Reconstruction of Ukraine, held in Paris.
German Galushchenko stressed that Ukraine was heroically holding the energy front, although the energy sector has been suffering almost daily from targeted attacks by russian missiles for two months.
As a result of russian attacks about 50% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure was damaged.
The Minister stressed the importance of the solidarity of European countries to protect the civilian population of Ukraine from russian aggression against energy infrastructure.
"I am grateful to the countries and companies that have been helping Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Due to constant russian attacks, our needs are growing every week. The priority is high-voltage equipment, but there is also a need for other equipment and spare parts to repair the networks. Support worth EUR 415 million, announced at the Conference in Paris, will significantly help the recovery of the Ukrainian energy sector," emphasized German Galushchenko.
He also noted that there was a current need for gas turbine and gas piston power units that would help to ensure stable operation of the energy system.
At the same time, the Minister stressed that solidarity was essential not only for the restoration of Ukraine's energy sector, but also for ensuring nuclear safety, all 7 principles of which were completely ignored by russia. Having seized Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, shelling its territory, russia has been keeping the world on the verge of nuclear disaster for more than 9 months.
"Together we must give a worthy rebuff to the aggressor, take concrete steps that will help stop nuclear terrorism. We are talking about the introduction of nuclear sanctions against russia, replacement of russian nuclear fuel, rejection of russian nuclear technologies and joint projects with rosatom. Only solidarity and determination in confronting the terrorist state will help to win this war", summed up German Galushchenko.
