National Researcher System starts accepting applications: Over UAH 190 million allotted for state scholarships for scientists

The Government is consistently implementing a transparent model of monthly state scholarships for researchers. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

“More than UAH 190 million have already been allocated for this support in 2026. This assistance is intended for the country’s top 2,650 scientists. The monthly payment will amount to UAH 10,000,” said the Head of Government. “The scholarships will be awarded for a two-year's term. They will be awarded based on rankings in the National Researcher System, which today began accepting applications and verifying data on scientific achievements.”

From now on, Ukrainian scientists can submit verified data on their research achievements to the system—including information on publications and citations, grants, patents, training of young researchers, international collaboration, and more.

Researcher rankings will be compiled based on this data, and scientists with the highest rankings will be eligible for state scholarships. Separate support is provided for young scientists.

Participation in Ukraine’s National Researcher System will be voluntary. Information can be submitted through a personal account in the National Electronic Scientific and Information System.

“Ukrainian innovations, especially in the defense sector and medicine, are what save lives and strengthen our position on the frontlines. Therefore, supporting scientists is an investment in our security, resilience, and future,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The National Researcher System was introduced with expert support from the World Bank as part of the “Improving Higher Education in Ukraine for Results” (UIHERP) project.
