The excessive upswing in tariffs on heating and water against the backdrop of rising gas prices is a fraud and an attempt to profit off of people and to attribute the responsibility to someone else, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman on air of one of the national TV channels.

"When I hear that the tariffs for heating and water can grow by 70%, I have a question: why would this take place? People should understand that the issue of gas price is important for the formation of tariffs. But we have counted: if gas rose by 23%, then the tariffs for heating should rise by no more than 16%", explained Volodymyr Groysman. "If it is about 70%, then some people want to play in hugger-mugger and multiply raising prices for heating, placing the responsibility to someone else."

The Head of Government repeated that growth in gas prices is limited and amounts to 23%, not 60%, as it could have been. In addition, those who find it difficult to pay the real price for gas and utilities will be protected under the subsidy program. It is valid and there is no reason for panic.
