The first inaugural meeting of the new Government, chaired by Prime Minister Denys Shmigal, took place today, March 5. The meeting concerned preparatory and personnel issues.

“I am pleased to welcome all ministers. We have a lot of work ahead, we must gain momentum. I would like to point out that the Government, the ministries will exert every effort to ensure the result be positive and tangible for the people. That is why today we must vote, first and foremost, on the staff decisions necessary to launch the work of the new Government. We face serious challenges - economic, social, political. We are aware that problem solving is no easy task. That is why for the next regular sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers, we today are to prepare the decisions that reflect the points I announced yesterday in Parliament - from the implementation of reforms to the readiness of the country for the possible coronavirus outbreak”, stated Denys Shmygal.

Given the situation with the confirmed case of coronavirus in the country and the situation in the whole world, at the first meeting, it was decided to strengthen the operational headquarters on the prevention of the spread in Ukraine of acute respiratory disease caused by 2019-nCoV.
