The Government has allocated more than UAH 550 million for the construction of school shelters in the Mykolaiv region, announced Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during his working visit to the region on 26 September.

According to Denys Shmyhal, this is one of the important factors of safety during the educational process. In total, more than 70% of schools in the region have started offline or mixed learning.

"Offline learning, where possible, is one of the priorities of the Government in the education sector," the Prime Minister stressed.

In one of Mykolaiv's educational institutions, Denys Shmyhal inspected a reconstructed shelter with an area of more than 900 square metres, which can accommodate more than 500 students at a time.

"The shelter was modernised with charitable funds. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to the fundraising. Now the institution has everything necessary for comfortable and safe learning even during air raids," said Denys Shmyhal.

During the visit, the Head of Government also presented students of Mykolaiv higher educational institutions with certificates for academic scholarships from the Cabinet of Ministers for the first semester of the current academic year.
