Mykola Solskyi got acquainted with capacity of the port of Dakar

On January 9, as part of a Ukrainian delegation visit to Africa, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi visited the seaport of Dakar, Republic of Senegal, which accounts for 95% of food imports to the country.

General Director of the Port of Dakar Mountaga Sy, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Dakar Abdoulaye Sow, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy of Senegal Papa Mbaye acquainted the Ukrainian delegation with the infrastructure and informed about the capacity of the seaport.

During the meeting Mykola Solskyi stressed that Ukraine was ready to export not only agricultural products but also other goods to African countries. To do this, it is necessary to focus on the development of logistics.

“The President of Ukraine and the Government are considering the expansion of trade relations with the countries of West Africa, in particular, the creation of joint logistics projects. This will allow to do business predictably, stabilize prices and have confidence in the quality of grain and its supply,” said Mykola Solskyi.

The Ukrainian Minister thanked the Senegalese side for the opportunity to visit the port and get acquainted with its capacity.

Representatives of Senegal confirmed their interest in cooperation and readiness to consider the possibility of implementing joint logistics projects.
