In his visit to Ukraine, Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, met with Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine. The parties discussed Uber’s large-scale support of Ukraine in 2022, its commitment to continue it in 2023, and another contribution of USD 1,500,000 through UNITED24.
In early December, UNITED24, in partnership with Uber, launched the Keep Ukraine Moving international fundraiser for ambulances and shared stories of brave Ukrainian drivers who help the country and save lives during the war. The total amount of funds raised and donations made by the company itself reached USD 1,500,000.
During the meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov, Dara Khosrowshahi announced a new contribution by Uber for Type C ambulances. The company will transfer another USD 1,500,000, doubling the funds raised. Therefore, Uber’s total contribution in just one month of partnership with UNITED24 will make USD 3,000,000.
“Support from the world’s leading companies is ever more important. Indeed, world-famous brands help not only raise funds for our country, which has been defending itself for more than ten months, but also keep Ukraine in the focus of global attention. I am grateful to the Uber team for the many initiatives they have implemented throughout 2022 and for their partnership with the UNITED24 platform. Thanks to this support, we will be able to provide heroic Ukrainian medics with ambulances that will save thousands of lives,” said Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.
In turn, the Uber team assured that it would support the medical industry, education, culture, and non-governmental organizations throughout 2023.
Dara Khosrowshahi noted that the company was grateful to Uber users from around the world who supported Ukraine and contributed to the Keep Ukraine Moving campaign launched in close partnership with UNITED24. Inspired by the bravery and heroism of Ukrainian drivers and other citizens, the company is today making an additional contribution for critically needed ambulances and commits to provide support as long as this horrific war continues.
Alongside its partnership with UNITED24, Uber will continue to provide free rides to temporarily displaced persons, doctors, nurses, and critical infrastructure workers. It will also help the ministries of culture, education and science, and health. Also, during 2023, it will deliver free of charge the necessary food, medicines, winter shelters, and materials for housing reconstruction.
