Ukraine has received the first batch of 20 new ambulances out of the planned 200 as part of a donation of more than USD 12 million from the Government of the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the Korean Embassy in Ukraine and with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The ambulances will be used to provide essential medical care to patients who require additional life-sustaining measures during transport to and between hospitals.
During the full-scale war, russia inflicted significant damage on Ukraine’s emergency medical vehicle fleet: 226 vehicles were damaged, 263 were destroyed, and a further 125 were stolen. This is particularly critical in the context of the growing number of wounded, when the need for medical transport becomes acute. Despite the difficulties, Ukrainian medical services are doing their best to provide patients with the care they need. The support of international partners, including 20 ambulances donated by the Korean government, is enabling medics to save even more lives.
The ambulances are equipped with the means to provide life-sustaining care to patients during medical transport.
Some of the vehicles have already been distributed to healthcare facilities in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Sumy regions.
Earlier, the emergency centres received 25 ambulances with the support of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
