In order to ensure the implementation of the order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Ministry of Health is initiating an increase in salaries of healthcare workers. The increase rate will amount to 50% and will require an additional UAH 11 billion from the state budget.

This was announced by the Minister of Health Maxym Stepanov at a daily briefing.

“Medical reform in a modified shape will provide for the improvement of the quality and accessibility of medical services. Ukrainians, having called 103, will definitely receive high-quality assistance within 10-20 minutes. At that, we consider that our medical employees should receive a significant raise in salaries this year. Not less than 50%,” urged Maksym Stepanov.

According to the Minister of Health, to ensure the improvement in wages payment for the entire healthcare personnel amounting to 435,000 workers, it is necessary to allocate an additional UAH 11 billion. “This will be done from July 1, 2020, at the expense of the state budget of Ukraine. To this end, we will appeal to both the Government and the Verkhovna Rada to make changes,” said Minister Maksym Stepanov.
