On January 1, 2021, the Agreement on the Joint Production of Audiovisual Works between Canada and Ukraine came in effect.

From now on, Ukrainian and Canadian producers can apply for budget support, tax benefits and discounts on distribution in both countries, provided co-production.

"The agreement opens up excellent opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. But it is also important to work on the promotion of Ukraine in the international arena. And it is ahead," said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

Canada is a recognized leader in co-production, implementing about 60 international projects each year.

"From now on, producers from Canada and Ukraine can create wonderful films together drawing on the support of both countries," said Larisa Galadza, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine.

"This treaty lays the foundation for strong collaboration. And what I'm sure of there will be compelling film and television projects," said Reynolds Mastin, president and CEO of the Canadian Media Producers Association.

"We have well prepared staff who have creative ideas and a very high level of preparation," says Victoria Yarmoschuk, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Film Association.
