September 11, 2018, a Candle of Remembrance action broke out in Tashkent. Representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar communities and Ukrainian citizens working in Uzbekistan remembered those innocent people who had starved to death.
The Apostolic Administrator in the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bishop Jerzy Maculewicz, held a holy prayer for those who died of the Great Famine, and the present lit 85 candles.
During the action Light a Candle of Remembrance in Uzbekistan representatives of the Ukrainian and the Crimean Tatar diasporas shared memories told by their parents and grandfathers about the terrible time when Ukrainians were dying of hunger in pursuit of Freedom.
